In the heart of Winnipeg, Fleet Management Services (FMS) — a branch of the Government of Manitoba — plays a critical role in keeping the province’s vehicles safe, reliable, and ready to serve. From ambulances and emergency response units to tractors, snowplows, inspection trucks, and official sedans, FMS manages the full lifecycle of thousands of vehicles used across government departments.
Aries Lee Marcial-Aswit, Ambulance Coordinator at FMS, calls her role “the coolest job.” Her work goes far beyond procurement — it’s about overseeing the entire lifecycle of emergency medical vehicles, ensuring each one is maintained, refurbished, and retired responsibly.
“We look after the whole lifecycle of a vehicle — from procurement to maintenance to sunsetting or retiring,” Aries explains.
A Day in the Life: Ambulance Fleet Coordinator
On any given day, Aries can be found in the Fleet Management shop in downtown Winnipeg, coordinating an ambulance overhaul, reviewing maintenance data, or working with mechanics, warehouse staff, and radio technicians. She ensures every detail — from communication systems to safety checks — meets provincial standards before an ambulance returns to service.
Building a Career in Supply Chain
A graduate of the University of Winnipeg PACE Supply Chain Management Program and proud SCMP™ designation holder, Aries applies analytical and supply chain principles to make data-driven decisions that improve vehicle performance and safety. Her education has equipped her with the skills to bridge technical operations with strategic management — a combination that keeps Manitoba’s essential services running efficiently.
