The three Presenters will be discussing how nine different Stewardship programs in Manitoba came together to provide service to Manitoba’s remote communities to support their recycling efforts and remove unwanted waste items like white goods. They will discuss the genesis of the program to how all levels of government from Chief and Council to the Federal Government worked to make this a success. The issues of loading and transport of various items including Hazardous waste to community support and what this service means to individual remote communities.

Panelists:

Dennis Neufeld – EPRA’s Manitoba Program Director. Building on his 20 years of logistics experience, he started EPRA’s electronics recycling program for Manitoba in 2012. EPRA Manitoba provides regulatory Compliance for more than 500 Manufacturers and retailers and operates over 100 Collection depots throughout the Province.

Randy Weber – Randy has worked in the environment industry for 34 years playing multiple roles. Randy currently coordinates The Backhaul Project.

Amy Smith – Amy has worked with the First Nations Waste Minimization Program at Green Action Centre for five years working with various First Nations to improve recycling and waste management systems. Her specialty is waste management planning and education.
